common ground came into being in 2009, conceived as a collective environment for continuous research and experimentation on architecture. With studio based in Calicut, India, common ground has performed a wide range of architecture, interior design, landscape design and master planning projects. Eluding categorization along stereotypical styles or types, we enjoy stretching our limits in terms of scale, budget and form, to experiment with spaces.
Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that architecture should be responsible, sensible, sustainable and timeless. We give extra care to craft buildings that work well, not just those that look good. Detailing is thus of ultimate priority in our studio. We are a small, but efficient team doing a selected number of projects. And for us every project is an exercise to find common ground with everyone involved in the project.
